Keeping Everyone Safe with No-Contact Service
Just two arms’ length. That’s all the contact needed with an infected person to increase your risk for infection of COVID-19. This highly contagious disease continues to spread worldwide, and many states in the U.S. are still experiencing daily spikes in new cases. As a result, routine precautions are essential to slowing its spread.
At Rytec Electric, the safety of our team members and customers is our top priority. We are committed to continuing to provide the highest level of quality service while taking all necessary precautions to protect those around us. We’d like to share with you the measures we are taking to keep you and our team members safe as we help you with your electrical needs.
The Need for Additional Safety Measures During the COVID-19 Pandemic
This highly contagious respiratory disease is spread through droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes. These droplets become airborne and can become inhaled by those nearby. The droplets can also land on hard surfaces. Anyone who touches these hard surfaces and then touches their mouth or nose can become infected.
Individuals With No Symptoms Can Still Spread the Virus
Symptoms for the COVID-19 virus aren’t usually evident for up to two weeks. According to recent studies, however, individuals who aren’t showing symptoms can still pass the virus to others.
COVID-19 Symptoms Mimic Those of Other Common Illnesses
COVID-19 symptoms such as fever, sore throat, cough, diarrhea and body aches mimic other common illnesses. Individuals experiencing these symptoms may incorrectly assume they have a common cold or the flu. As a result, they may ignore CDC safety recommendations and unwittingly spread the virus to others.
Regular Employee Screenings
Per CDC recommendations, we conduct daily health checks of all team members. Anyone who is experiencing symptoms is asked to stay home.
Employees who have come into contact with an infected person are not permitted to work. They are required to remain home and follow CDC guidelines for self-quarantine. Specifically, employees may not return to work until:
- At least 72 hours have passed with no fever without the use of fever-reducing medication.
- At least ten days have passed since symptoms first appeared.
- They receive negative results on two consecutive Covid-19 tests.
Consistent Use of Personal Protective Equipment
All employees are required to wear personal protective equipment for every electrical service appointment. Standard PPE includes gloves, face masks and boot covers.
According to the CDC, cloth face coverings act as a barrier to prevent the wearer from spreading the coronavirus to others. Our team members wear face masks that comply with CDC recommendations, including:
- The mouth and nose are fully covered.
- The mask fits snugly on both sides to prevent droplets from escaping the mask.
- The mask is securely tied to prevent slipping.
According to the CDC, the virus can live on surfaces for as long as several days. As such, our team members wear gloves on every service call.
The added measure of gloves helps ensure we maintain clean hands throughout the service call and that we are not spreading the virus. Additionally, we always follow the CDC handwashing guidelines. Our team members immediately wash their hands or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer immediately after removing their gloves.
While we would love nothing more than to greet every customer with a friendly handshake, it is for the safety of all that we refrain. Instead, our team members will greet you with a friendly smile and a warm “hello” from an acceptable social distance of six feet.
In the office, we encourage employees to maintain social distancing measures per CDC guidelines. Specifically:
- Rearranging workspaces to accommodate six feet of space between employees.
- Isolating employees who are experiencing symptoms until they can leave or be safely transported to seek medical care.
- Staggering breaks and work schedules to minimize employee contact.
These social distancing measures are one of the most critical factors in slowing the spread of the disease.
In-Depth Office Sanitization
At Rytec Electric, we maintain the highest standards of cleanliness for our offices. We have a cleaning crew regularly sanitize our office. The cleaning crew uses soap and water to clean all surfaces. Once clean, the crew uses an EPA registered disinfectant to kill germs.
The coronavirus can live in the air for up to three hours. That is why our cleaning crew uses approved products and procedures to sanitize the air in our office.
