From First Call to Finished Electrical Repair
Tell Us What’s Going On
Call 803-721-3734 and a real person picks up. Not a phone tree, and not a recording. Describe what you’re seeing (flickering lights, dead outlet, tripping breaker) and we’ll match you with the electrician who handles that type of repair best from our team.
Get a Fast and Convenient Appointment
We book a time that works for your schedule. Most appointments are available as soon as the next business day. 24 hours before your visit, you’ll get a call with your electrician’s name and arrival window. No guessing who’s showing up or when.
Get a Diagnosis and Price Before Any Work Starts
Your electrician arrives on schedule, evaluates the problem, and explains what’s wrong in plain English. We won’t try to confuse you with jargon or sales tactics. You get the full price and your options laid out. Nothing happens until you decide what you want.
Get It Fixed: Backed by a 1-Year Guarantee
Once you approve, the repair starts. Our trucks are fully stocked, so most common repairs are completed in the same visit. Complex issues will require an additional appointment. When we’re done, we clean up after ourselves: shoe covers, drop cloths, and a workspace left the way we found it. If anything we repaired acts up within a year, we come back at no cost.
Electrical Problems We Fix
Faulty Wiring

Outdated or damaged wiring behind your walls is a fire risk that gets worse the longer you wait.
Faulty Wiring
If your home is more than 30 years old or you’re noticing burning smells, discolored outlets, or breakers that trip for no clear reason, the wiring may need to be evaluated. A Rytec electrician will trace the issue, explain what’s happening, and give you the price before any work starts.
Light Switch Problems

Switches that don’t work, buzz, or feel warm to the touch.
Light Switch Problems
A switch that’s warm or makes noise usually means a wiring issue behind the plate, not a bad switch. We diagnose before replacing anything so you’re not paying for parts you don’t need.
Outlet Issues

Dead outlets, outlets that spark, or outlets that won’t hold a plug.
Outlet Issues
A single dead outlet can mean a tripped GFCI somewhere else in the house, a loose connection, or a deeper wiring problem. We’ll find the root cause, and that means looking beyond the breaker box.
Ceiling Fan Installation & Repair

Fans that wobble, won’t turn on, or need to be replaced with a new unit.
Ceiling Fan Installation & Repair
Ceiling fan wiring is more involved than most homeowners expect, especially in older homes where the junction box may not support the weight. We handle the electrical and the mounting so it’s done safely.
Power Outages & Surges

Partial power loss, repeated surges, or circuits that won’t stay on.
Power Outages & Surges
If part of your home has power and part doesn’t, the problem is usually at the panel or a specific circuit, not the utility company. We’ll diagnose whether it’s a breaker, a connection, or something more involved, and walk you through the options.
Light Fixture Repairs

Flickering lights, fixtures that won’t turn on, or lights that dim on their own.
Light Fixture Repairs
Flickering usually means a loose connection, not a bad bulb. If swapping the bulb didn’t fix it, the issue is in the wiring or the fixture itself. We’ll pinpoint it and give you the price before doing anything.
Circuit Breaker & Panel Issues

Breakers that keep tripping, panels that are outdated, or circuits that can’t handle your load.
Circuit Breaker & Panel Issues
A breaker that trips once is doing its job. A breaker that trips repeatedly is telling you something’s wrong; either the circuit is overloaded or there’s a fault in the wiring. We’ll evaluate the panel, explain what we find, and lay out your options with pricing before any work starts.
What Columbia Homeowners Say After the Repair
“Thank you Rytec (and specifically, Clinton) for the great work … again! Not for the first time, Clinton diagnosed our issues quickly and came up with a cost effective solution. Rytec and Clinton, y’all are outstanding. Oh … and we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention Ashlynn who helped to coordinate everything on our behalf … THX!!”
~ Brent Robertson

Worked with Clinton - Electrical Outlet & Switch Installation
“I was convinced I was going to need new panels but Clinton inspected each one and pointed out how I still had plenty of power options available for future use. He then corrected some other outstanding issues both outside my home and inside. Professional, knowledgeable and nice-will be calling Rytec for all of my electrical needs and specifically asking for Clinton!”

Why Columbia Homeowners Keep Calling Rytec
Electrical problems don’t get better on their own, they get more expensive and less safe. Here’s why your neighbors keep calling us back when they have electrical problems.

We Show Up On Time
10 AM means 10 AM. Running behind? You get a call, not silence.

No Jargon, No Upselling
Plain-English options. If a small fix solves it, that’s what we recommend, not a bigger job you don’t need.

Every Electrician Is a Rytec Employee
No subcontractors on any service call. The person at your door was hired, trained, and background-checked by us.

Next-Morning Follow-Up
We call the day after to make sure everything’s working and nothing was missed.

Our Reputation Runs on Referrals
Most calls come from neighbors who’ve used us before. First-time customers regularly ask for a technician by name.
Steven founded Rytec in 2007 after seeing what happens when undertrained electricians get sent into people’s homes. He built a company where the team comes first, because better-trained, better-supported electricians do better work every time.
Common
Questions About Electrical Repairs
How much does an electrical repair cost?
It depends on the problem. A loose outlet connection and a full panel replacement are very different jobs. Here’s how pricing works with Rytec:
We charge an $89 diagnostic fee for your electrician to come on-site, evaluate the issue, and explain what’s going on. You get the full quoted price and your options before any repair work starts. If you move forward with the repair, the $89 is applied to your first hour of labor, so you’re only paying for the work itself.
Most common repairs are handled in the same visit. Complex issues will require an additional appointment.
No hidden fees. No surprise charges after the fact.
How quickly can you get an electrician to my house?
Most appointments are available as soon as the next business day. When you call 803-721-3734, a real person answers, and we’ll book a time that works for your schedule.
24 hours before your appointment, you’ll get a call with your electrician’s name and arrival time so you know exactly who’s coming and when.
Do I need to be home during the repair?
Yes. Someone age 18 or older needs to be present for the appointment. Your electrician will walk you through the diagnosis and pricing before starting, and you’ll need to approve the work. Most common repairs are completed in a single visit. Complex issues will require an additional appointment to complete the work.
What does your 1-year guarantee cover?
Every residential electrical repair we perform is backed by a 1-year parts and labor guarantee. If anything we repaired stops working or acts up within a year of the service date, we come back and fix it at no cost to you. No fine print, no service call fee, no exceptions.
Is it dangerous to wait on an electrical repair?
It depends on the problem. A dead outlet is inconvenient but usually not urgent. A breaker that trips repeatedly, a burning or fishy smell, or an outlet that sparks are all potential fire hazards that shouldn’t wait.
Electrical issues generally don’t fix themselves. A small wiring problem today can turn into a more expensive repair or a safety risk if it’s left alone. If you’re unsure whether your situation can wait, call 803-721-3734 and we’ll help you figure out the right next step. We serve Columbia, Lexington, and the surrounding Midlands area.
Talk to a Real Person
A real person picks up, not a phone tree. Describe your issue and we’ll get you on the schedule, usually as soon as the next business day.
